  1. I feed my cats (and dogs) morning and evening. The cats get a small bit of kibble then small portions of different foods I prepare for them.
Like dogs, cats will eat all day long.

  2. I adopted 2 new cats in the last year. (My 20 year old cat passed away last July) Bunny is 1 year old and Mouse is 6 months old. I prefer canned food. The 3 oz cans says to feed 2-3 cans per day. So for Bunny she is getting 3 cans per day spaced out approx. every 4 hours. My problem with her is she inhales her food like a vacuum cleaner. The other problem I have with her is she wants to eat every time I go into the kitchen. So sometimes if she is really acting cranky, I put a little adult kibble in her bowl so she doesn’t feel neglected. Then she wants to eat Mouse’s food. So I have to stand where Mouse is eating to stop Bunny from pushing Mouse out of the way and eating her food. I’ve only had Mouse for 2 months and she came home from the shelter eating kibble for kittens. The directions say to feed her that until she is 1 year old. Well, because Bunny is on a 3 per day schedule, I am feeding Mouse at the same times, but I’m giving Mouse kibble in the morning and night and for her lunch I give her the same canned food Bunny eats 3 times per day. Evenutally I want Mouse on canned food too. With all that said, Bunny eats fast and Mouse eats much slower. I’ll try to get Bunny one of those mats so she has to work harder to get at the food, but I worry it won’t work because I bought a puzzle tray for kibble/treats and she wanted nothing to do with it. She either couldn’t figure out how it works and she just thought it was more work than she wanted to exert. One morning I found the kibble gone, but I have a sneaking suspicious the kitten figured it out. So I guess my main questions are: 1) Am I feeding my cats too much with 3 meals a day? and 2) Can I feed the 6 month old 3 cans a day of the adult food and get them both on the same schedule and just keep the kibble as a snack in tiny amounts? Oh and I will add that Mouse will stop eating if she is full. Bunny would eat all day if I let her.

  3. My 3 have been on homemade, high protein chicken or turkey based for last 2 yrs, I also use feline supplement from Veterinarian Secrets.
One cat was way over weight from open feeding, one was under weight and the other normal weight. Now all three cats are at healthy weights, shiny coats, much more active and happy!
SAY NO TO ANY BRAND OF DRY KIBBLE!!!
