  1. I say this as no disrespect to the speaker in the video but for anyone reading this, please understand the information in this video is incorrect. Most healthy senior dogs need MORE protein. Modern veterinary science shows that high-quality protein does not cause kidney disease in healthy dogs. In fact, restricting protein prematurely can weaken a dog and make them less able to fight off illness.

  2. The most shocking piece of info is that my dog doesn’t need all the meat I’ve feeding him the past few years 😅 he is a senior now, indoors, and with a grade 1 heart murmur. I’m feeding him the Purina one canned food for seniors, but based off your review and Dr. Rae, it may be hard to know if he is getting the right amount of vitamin E/antioxidants to help him thrive in his senior years. Instead of feeding all the chicken hearts I was giving him, I’ve switched to berries and peppers as his daily treats! Especially seeing how Purina formulas are generous with their meat servings, I know he is getting all the protein he needs with his regular food, and now I know that giving more protein may actually be detrimental if he develops kidney problems down the road. As a plus, berries and peppers are something I eat myself daily, so we get to share food, and they are low calorie so it helps to keep him lean and not overwork his heart. Information is power. Thank you for your educational videos! I learn a lot!
